Opening drain cock 1997 S10

Drain **** neck appears to be cracked, most likely done at Pep Boys when they replaced my lower radiator hose in the past. can the draick **** be removed and replaced without breaking off completely? Then can the neck be repaired with JB Weld to seal up the missing section?

Thank you for your reply, The petcock turns slightly back and forth by hand so it's loose. I am fearful of creating a larger crack in the drain neck if use a tool to turn it harder or try pulling out. Because of this I'm leaning towards just draining the system by removing the lower hose clamp at the radiator, leaving the petcock in place altogether. I will seal off the broken section with the JB weld as you suggested, since it appears that fluid has leaked from that area in the past, most lightly when it's hot. Also, I think I should install a flushing T to the heater hose to complete the flush. I think the correct hose to splice is the bottom heater hose going to the top of the engine block. Doesn't leave me a whole lot of good placement areas for the splice. Wishing you and your family a very Happy Holiday!

SOURCE: leaking alot of water /coolant

You have answered your own question almost. You will need to jack the car up and inspect everything being that its 91 camara, there is defintely enough room to inspect everything. You either have a hose leak, a radiator or water pump leak. Only inspection will find that out. Thank you,

SOURCE: radiator hose 93 chevrolet cavalier not sure if it

depending on how many miles you have on the car i would look at the lower hose first; the other common problem on a 93 cav would be the lower radiator neck or radiator leak; the lower hose has less pressure on it than the upper so sometimes finding the leak can be tricky. with the engine off and cold squeeze the lower hose by the radiator to see if any fluid comes out. otherwise you would have to pressurize the system to find the leak

SOURCE: Just bought a 1999 blazer. Last owner replaced

The only "backwards" turning water pump would be for a marine application...doubt if you got one of those. Check that the thermostat is installed with the spring end towards the engine (shops like peppy boys aren't always that sharp) Check that any electric fans for the radiator are coming on when needed. If the radiator was new it should be OK, if used, it could have a partial internal obstruction. Make sure there are no external obstructions to air flow such as leaves or bugs packed into the A/C condenser. Sometimes a head gasket can cause that and not be bad enough to show symptoms. Have the system checked for hydrocarbons (exhaust) in the radiator. If any are present, you could have either a cracked cylinder head or blown gasket. There is a dye test that can be done for this but a homeowner kit may be a bit expensive to buy to use only once.
If the system was re-filled properly it's likely there isn't any trapped air in there but it should be checked as well.

SOURCE: 95 Camaro Z28 appears to be leaking antifreeze

if your rubber hoses are cracked and leaking then replace the hoses with proper size and length.
if the hoses are leaking where they connect to the metal fittings from the heater core then try and tighten up the hose clamps -- they could just be loose.
