1998 S-10 tuck runs good,then few days later when the truck is turned off wont start,cranks good,changed fuel pump and filter,its getting fuel and spark theres a security light comes on,then sits for few hours then starts,driving me bonkers

It may take 3-4 times cranking for a few seconds,
with a 5 second pause between to get fuel up to the engine. Also may have sucked up
some dirt/debris into the fuel pump after running it dry. May want to change fuel filter.

You have air in the fuel system, it takes special skill and tools to bled it properly.

if it runs when spraying starting fluid in it, then the most likely problem is no fuel getting to engine. check or replace fuel filter, check the fuel pump fuse and relay it may have blown. if not that see if fuel pump is working. to check pump--- have someone turn car to on, while you feel for vibration at fuel tank under car. a fuel pump only comes on for a few seconds to get the fuel to engine. but when started it runs continuously. have a good day !!

First of all, a diagnostic wont tell them that there is arcing involved. I am thinking it is your crank sensor. It expands and retracts in different weather situations.It should make contact in all weather situations.

The cam or crank position sensors are notorious for failing, after they age and get heat in them the signal is no longer generated. Also make sure fuel lift pump is working properly, check all of the fuel filters and for fuel leaks of any kind including sucking air on the suction side of the lift pump. Good Luck!!

You could have rust in your gas tank, what will happen if that is the case is crank and run and when the rust gets stirred up it will clog your pump and filter. After a while it will kill your pump, and ruin your filter, and cause it not to crank at all. I would drain the tank and look at the fuel as it comes out if it has any red in it that is your problem. I had the same problem and that sounds just like my problem. I hope that helps you out.
