The original problem was sometimes when I am braking and turning, such as parking, the brake pedal doesn't move, and it seems to lock up the steering. If I let up on the brake and then step on it again, it will stop the car. I was told this was a malfunctioning wheel speed sensor. This was when I was told to pull the abs fuse. This stopped the braking problem, but caused my cruise to quit, and my tach to malfunction. Does this sound like a wheel speed sensor to you?

You need to have your brakes inspected by a professional. The lights indicate that ABS and traction control are not working...although brakes will work without these features, a humming noise can indicate more problems to come.

No, the problem is not yet overcome, but it appears as if this fixer-uper has been fixed up before with steering parts that are not compatible with '98 Jimmy's. I've left it in the hands of a local GM geru who claims to be able to fix it. I'll keep the email and keep you posted.

SOURCE: the cruise control just quit
By removing the ABS brake fuse you are disabling other components as well. The ABS fuse supplies voltage to the brake switch that tells the ECM and ABS module the the brake has been applied. If neither of the modules can see the brake switch the cruise control will be electrically disabled. You need to reinstall the fuse.
Let me know.
