It rides fine until i shut it down then its a no start
I had this same problem my 1996 discovery . oddly enough lights came on bright etc i thought ok all electrical is good .. Nope , i jumped a pair of battery cables from the negative battery post to the bracket where alternator bolts on to a ground pretty much .. This problem went away completely.. So it was just a current issue wasnt getting enough to light those spark plugs my guess or the computer was doing something else whne it diditn see all the current it needed .. i have no idea but it fixed it
SOURCE: Starts fine when cold, after running dies on idle then wont start
Sounds like the fuel filter is dirty and needing to be changed. It's cheap and easy to swap out.
SOURCE: land rover 1999 starter is running but engine wont start
the unit where u put the key is broken on the back side of the unit is a swith that is y u can turn key in positions ....if there is a time damage often similar problems comming...
The ignition system is controlled by the ECM. Check power at fuse box in on right side under dash. Check fuses right side engine compartmentlower dash panel if all OK check power to ECM located right side "A" pillar in alloy box. this unit could be faulty if no spark at coils, assuming they have been connected correctly. may have to get tested for codes at L/R dealer or someone with test tool. Another source of problem may well be flat battery in transponder key. The indicator light on the dash willflash rapidly for 10 seconds if the vehicle has been unlocked with the remote and the drivers door is opened if the battery in remote is getting low
If you mean that it starts fine when cold, but if you stop & turn off the engine (to to pop into a shop for example) then try to restart and get absolutely no turning over, then you need to replace your battery. It has a short or crack which is expanding when hot creating your problem.
