SOURCE: Whats going on with my 2000 GMC Sonoma?

What are the driveability problems??? These are two distinctive sets of codes. Now 3 of these codes are either not real or not "p" codes. However, the first set of codes is basically saying your oxygen sensors are not working properly. This can dramatically affect fuel mileage. Usually O2 sensors will last at least 80-100k on a well maintained vehicle so if it has more miles than that it would be a really good idea to change them. The second set of codes are transmission codes. My assumption is that you have no overdrive gear and possibly have erratic or improper shift points. Honestly the best way to fix that is to have a professional do it. Changing the trans solenoids is not that difficult...but knowing they are faulty is the big thing!! If you have no driveability problems at all then you definitely have a bad electrical problem and I recommend starting by checking all grounds.....every code you have can be set by bad grounds or a weak charging system!! If the truck drives ok and connections seem ok then I would clear the codes and drive it for a week or so and see which ones come back...sometimes they can also be set if someone is doing repairs and they forget to clear them.

Ford engine codes po178

Codes have nothing to do with parts replacement

Codes guide you to a system with a fault

Google the code & read up

Parts only get replaced when component tested & fail

OBDC PO178. Changed the fuel filter, air filter, and spark plugs. How exactly do you change the flex fuel sensor? Where is it located? And are the replica/ bypass parts ok to use instead if you never plan...

On Board Diagnostic Codes-- DO NOT tell you
what is wrong or what to replace

None of what you replaced was necessary for a PO178

Have it scanned and diagnosed professionally

PO179 CODE

P0179 Fuel Composition Sensor Circuit High Input. May have got some bad fuel somewhere. I would erase your codes and see if it comes back. If it does I would take your vehicle to the stealership to have it diagnosed a little further. Thanks for using fixya.

Sincerely,

IC
