Main problem is how do I get to the pump itself. After that it shouldn't be a problem. I don't think you have to lift the engine but if you do im not gonna do it myself. Yeah just how do you get to the water pump without lifting the engine.
Hi if this is a 2.2 water pump then you can do it without lifting the engine remove the alternator
it's just as easy to lift the engine
remove the overflow bottle
use a 2x4 and a jack under the oil pan
remove the upper motor mount
jack the motor up
Why would you pull the motor to change the water pump on a 2.2L OHV? I have one and certainly did not even entertain the thought of lifting the engine. The belt needs to be removed as does the alternator and the water pump pulley. Remove the pump mounting bolts and tap it gently with a rubber mallet (gently) and it will almost fall out in your hands. Make sure the gasket seat is clean on both surfaces prior to installation of new pump (I used a very small bead of RTV blue gasket maker to help hld the gasket in place). Installation is reverse of removal. It took me about two and half hours, and I am not a mechanic, actually I am a nurse educator and if I can do this almost any one can! :-)
Thank u Sammijoy for the information. I to have to change the water pump and so many other posts make it sound complicated. You just gave me hope lol.
