Deb, all 1985 Chevy Blazers were shipped with a sticker in the engine compartment, which includes a vacuum routing diagram, spark plug gap specification, and firing order. Look around the engine compartment and I'll wager it's still there.
make sure spark plugs gaps correct for the 4.2 engine gap need to be 0.050 for the 4.3 engine gap need to be 0.060. replace fuel filter and clean fuel injectors. missing problem also caused by weak ignition coil.vacuum leaks around intake manifold look for leaking hoses.if all is good do a compression test engine could have burn out valves.
check the timing, check your power controll module, sounds like it needs a tune up, check the compression of the motor. check your plug wires if you have them and the spark plug gap. They may all need replaced/
When you go to an auto store and they give sell you spark plugs they should already be gapped to spec. There is no need to adjust the gap. This may be the reason your car will not start. I would try new spark plugs first then wires. Since the vehicle is a 99 it probably could use a tune up (spark plugs, wires, coils, cap, rotor, chassis lube, and transmission fluid check and flush if needed). Also make sure that the engine block ground strap is in good condition and that there is no corrosion covering the ends of the ground strap. The ground strap is typically located near the firewall and is directly attached from the engine block to the frame of the car.

Your info: Dodge Intrepid 3.3L MFI (multi-port fuel injected) 6cyl
Spark plug gap: 0.048in - 0.053in (1.2mm - 1.3mm)
Torque Spark Plug to: 20 Ft-Lb. (28 Nm)
Replace interval for spark plugs: 30,000mi.
Note: on the 3.3L engine the (6) plugs are under the valve cover.
on the 3.5L engine, the (6) plugs are on the valve cover.
Your next step in diagnosis your problem should be to check for spark, you'll have to use a spark tester for this, simply removing a spark plug and looking at it WILL NOT WORK, a spark tester looks similar to a spark plug but it has about a 3/4" gap.
Another thing you should check is the voltage of the battery with a multimeter while cranking the engine, if it drops below 9.6v your computer will turn off and your injectors wont fire and neither will your plugs. If you don't have a multimeter just try jump starting the vehicle.
install a spark plug gap? or do you mean you don't know how to gap the spark plug?
