I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse 3.0l with a ticking noise coming from the rear valve cover. Are there any valve adjustments that could reduce this noise?
Don't remember any adjustments on those...that engine was known for lifter noises. Tried any oil additives? Don't remember any adjustments on those...that engine was known for lifter noises. Tried any oil additives?

No. The valves are hydraulic. Pour about a coke tin amount of diesl in with the engine oil. Run the enginr to normal teperature. Drain the oil and refill with new oil. It sounds like a lazy or blocked follower. Once you do this it should disappear.

Question moved from Heating and Cooling to the correct Vehicle category of Mitsubishi Eclipse.
It's a valve that is on a pipe from the exhaust to the inlet side, egr means exhaust gas recirculation and it to aid in cold starts and also emissions, it's usually at the rear of the engine to one side, hope this helps, it will possibly have a switch or plug coming from it
