You need to see if any electronic system fault codes are in the computers memory that controls the engine operation, follow the link for instructions and code lists for this OBD1 GM product.
Now be carefull here as if iam not mistaken this saturn is a opel/vauxhall/holden built in one of the southern states and it uses the same software and hardware as the astra/vectra/zafira/ range of GM built motors regardless of the name and these vehicles do suffer from the computer which is bolted to the inlet manifold right side and the heat damages them in the end .The codes to look for are cam sensor ,cylinder no ?? misfire and crank sensor ,changing all the parts makes no difference its still a new computer needed at the end of the day
Code 113 means the signal from the intake air temp sensor is higher than normal. The sensor is telling the computer the intake air is above 200 degrees. Could be a faulty sensor or wiring problem.
GM code 12 is basically no distributor or ignition reference. You will always get that when the engine is not running and you just ignore it.

I'd be searching for another Saturn engine instead of another GM substitute. Saturns were very specific and their "electrics" are NOT interchangeable w/other GM engines. Finding another Saturn engine will make transfer simple.
Some older model openers will not work. Take the make model and year to a GM dealer, they should beable to tell you if it is compatible or not. There should not be a charge for that.
It's a very strange code. It shows up in the generic "all manufacturer" code list as "P0601 Internal Control Module Memory Check Sum Error"
