Cylinder head removed when replaced the engine is jamming when rotating. The timing was check the valves are not touching the pistons. It seems like the problem is coming from the timing chain and tensioner can you please help.
It is very hard to diagnose a problem such as this on a computer with so very little info! First, you need to make sure the engine is timed properly! Second, why would you remove the cyl. head if you was replacing the engine? There's just so much non-information here that there is no way to give a answer. Start with the timing marks and make sure the engine is timed properly. That engine is a interference engine, so be careful!
Is it a twin cam ..what size engine.the timing marks maybe 180 out ...do not use the starter to turn the engine over ,use a rachet or a wrench .if you used the starter already to turn the engine you more than likely bent the valves already,if its a interference engine

burned valve is likely the culprit.... or bad rings.... hook air up to that cyclinder one at a time.... and listen where the air is escaping... be aware that the motor will rotate till the piston is at the bottom of it's rotation. if it's a burned valve you will have to remove the head and replace it but somewhat easier job then replacing the rings. darn almost forgot.... it can also be a blown head gasket.... same procedure but you might need a brush and some soap water to test for an air leak at the side of the head. when you are done spray some wd 40 on it to get the water off so the spark plugs do not arc.

There is a panel inside the wheel well that you can take off that gives you perfect access to the harmonic balancer. A special tool is required. i had my dad make one because he has access to whatever he needs at the factory. but you can get them at the dealer. i have no clue how much they cost. I can't see any way of doing it without the special tool. after you get the tool its pretty simple to get off. it takes alot of force to break the bolt loose though. i used the handle off my jack as a cheater bar. hope this helps...
