The 2005 chevy cobalt uses electronic power steering therefore does not require any fluids unless you want to add some lubrication to the steering column at rub points if you have any.

Power steering on 2006 chevy cobalt

There is NO power steering fluid in a 06 Cobalt. It is electric! This is a flaw that GM is not willing to come to terms with. Try topix.com for the list of over 350 people that this has happened to. Also, the dealership wants YOU to pay for it. There should be a recall. VERY dangerous!
