Freon? I have a Honda Accord 1995 auto and the air conditioning doesn't cool the car. I have no idea what to do, I'm a 51 year old female and I have to fix it myself. How do I do this?

I also strongly suggest u buy a repair manual for the car and familiarize yourself with the systems of your car.

is the system low on charge? does the AC compressor (under the hood) run then shut off over and over? Your system uses R134A refrigerant not R12 freon.

I own a 1990 Honda Accord (92,000miles) and need to get the air conditioning fixed - my mechanic tells me (and I knew it previously) that I need freon and that they don't manufacture it anymore can you...

true all cars went from r12 to r134a in 1995 and its hard to find anybody who still does r12 but u can have ur a/c evacuated out and u can get a r134a retro kit for like $45, the reason i mention to get the retro kit and do it yourself is some places will charge up 2 $300 for something thats easy 2 do as puting air in your tires, at any auto parts store if ac isnt working now u should do a leak test

I have a 1993 Honda Accord. I put in the stuff for the air conditioner. It gets cold and stays that way for only a few minutes. Then it is like all the freon ran out. Any body know what that is. It is...

Sounds like you have a leak in your system. You will probably have to take it somewhere to have a dye put into the cooling system, therefore making it easy to target the leak. Also, you can go out and buy a small hose that is for refilling the AC system that comes with a gauge on it, therefore you can monitor how much pressure is actually staying in your system, hope this helps at least a little!

Location of expansion valve

Expansion valve is located passenger dash area , inside the evaporator housing. This is not a repair that can be easily done by a home "do it yourselfer".It requires evacuating the the air condition system of freon is the biggest obsticle doing at home. Rec. taking to a certified a/c repair shop for this repair.

AC is not working

Sounds like the A/C system just needs to be recharged. When was the last time you had this done? Just take it in to your mechanic and he can do it for you and if that's not it for some reason, then he will be able to find the problem but most likely you need more freon added.

Air conditioning is not working

Most likely you have a freon gas leak ,you need to bring to an auto electrician with ai/c service sign. It might be expensive if your a/c hasn't been retrofitted yet(gas conversion of cars pre-1993 model). But it might be just electrical problem.
