Alright. I am replacing my spindle (steering knuckle) on the passenger side on my 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP since it has cracked. I have everything disconnected from the spindle except where the lower ball joint connects the lower control arm to the bottom part of the spindle. I wedged a pickle fork in between the ball joint and spindle and tried to turn the castellated nut where the cotter pin was at the top off but no luck whatsoever, the bolt just spins with the nut. There is nothing to grip beneath while you turn the castle nut either. I need to get this spindle off by disconnecting the lower control arm from the sprindle but I just cant because of the lower ball joint with the castle nut on the top. Can anyone assist me in any way? Thanks a lot.

The lower control arm is a two-piece welded unit with a riveted ball joint. A conventional rubber bushing is used for the rear lower control arm pivot. The front lower control arm bushing is mounted vertically.
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Some special tools are required to perform this operation including, a front hub spindle removal tool and a suitable ball joint separator tool.
WARNING
Do not hammer or pry ball joint from knuckle. Failure to use recommended tools may cause damage to the ball joint and seal.
