Have a load test done on the battery to check for failed cell. Clean the battery posts and terminals to shiny clean and ensure that they are tight. Check fusible link near the battery

There is a small fuse in the cab fuse block ,for the insterment panel that is verry easy to miss if you don,t look close ,it is hidden kind of at the top of the fuse block behind the wires,
I'd be willing to bet your dash lights don't work either when you turn the headlight on.change the headlight switch, it has a short, it's only about 11 dollars at advance auto, and is fairly easy to replace. my 93 chevy did same thing, changed headlight switch, problem solved
under the battery there is a diaphram that has a cable that runs to the front differential, if you can squeeze in there and pull on that cable and make it work you would likely have a vacuum problem... they come disconnected from the back of the intake manifold some times, and have seen the vacuum lines come loose at the transfer case.. anyway there is a starting point!
theres a good possibility that the brake light switch is bad or out of adjustment. it is located just above brake pedal, so when you apply brakes it turns on brake lights. good-day !
you should be able to just unscrew two screws that holds the tail light to the truck, then just twist and pull to remove the bulbs then replace with a new bulb, this should fix it. otherwise its a wiring issue
