Location of fuel filter on a 1997 escort

The last picture below is a picture of The fuel pump inertia switch for a 1997 Ford Escort. it is located inside the trunk immediately below the hole in the trunk side trim on the drivers side. You first should disconnect the electrical connector for the inertia switch. Then start engine and let run till the engine stalls as to relieve the fuel pressure. Make sure to reconnect it after finishing the replacement of the filter.

1997 Ford Escort 2.0L MFI SOHC SPI 4cyl the Fuel Filter is located under hood, driver side, rear engine area, passenger side of brake booster, mounted on firewall.

Ford vehicles are equipped with a fuel pump cut off switch that will shut power to the fuel pump in the event of a collision. By hitting the pothole, there was probably enough "force" making the switch mistakenly shut off the fuel pump. The switch should be located in the trunk either on the left or right side. Locate the switch and press the reset button. If it clicks when pressed, then the switch was activated. Try starting the car. If it starts, then that was the problem. I own a 1997 Ford Escort and the same thing happened to me...the pothole caused enough "force" thereby the switch took it as an impact. I hope this helps you out.

The fuel filter is located beside the master cylinder. To the left of it, standing in front of the car. Might require special tool to remove fuel line couplings from the filter.

Between the engine and the firewall. If you lean over the engine and look down you'll see it. Kind of hard to change, two clips you have to pry off the ends and then replace. plus a clamp that holds it in place. Might be easier to just take it to shop. We do these in minutes, very cheaply at my shop, but could be a pain in the **** at home.

How many miles on car? It could be fuel pump and or alernator or both.

of coarse change fuel filter first then test fuel pressure but sounds like pump may be on its way out

Hi for anyone who has a ford Escort 1.4 ltr petrol and is unsure where the fuel filter is it is located underneath the rear of the car behind the fuel tank and is held up buy a bracket and one bolt
