SOURCE: transmission shifts hard when the trac off light comes on

youll need to scan for transmission codes. the trac off light is a default of the trans going into a default safety mode. Bad speed sensors and simple little bolt on items like that can cause the condition but only way to really nail it is with a computer.

Push the Ets button for traction control will not turn on but a couple times over the winter the low light trac would come on and go off any solutions

On most vehicles, the ETS button turns OFF the ETS. It is on by default, and if you see the low trac light illuminate, it means that one or more wheels are spinning - not getting traction. The ETS button gives you the option to turn off ETS when you feel you need to be in control of all drive wheels, whether they have traction or not.

How do I turn off traction control in a 99 alero, keep getting stuck in the snow, also I can't find a button for 4 ways, had this car 6 months and have spent over $2000 in repairs. Help!!

If your model is equipped with traction control, the button on the console marked ETS turns it on and off. Page 4-10
The hazard flasher button is in the middle of the dash with a triangle symbol.
Check your owners manual for details.

Just bought a 1999 Olds Alero and it has no instruction manual for the clock, as well as wondering what it means when I click the button and a little light shows "Trac Off" really could use some...

That button you're pushing is the traction control button. You're turning traction control on & off. You use on slippery and wet roads. You might check Ebay for an owners manual.

The ETS light is for the electronic traction control. There should be a button around or near the shift lever to turn this on or off.You might have pushed it incidentally. If it does not go out when you push it then you will have to get the codes from the traction control module. This will help to find the problem.Let me know what you find.Good luck.

What is the ets button for

ETS stands for Enhanced Traction System.
This is GM's version of Traction Control - it improves traction (to reduce likely hood of skidding) on slippery or loose surfaces.
