The blend door is broken on my 04 Lincoln Aviator...the dealer said that this is a known problem. The air conditioning blows cold on one side and hot on the other. They indicated that some of their customers prefer to have them move the door manually each season instead of tearing the dash apart to try and fix the problem which costs aorund $600.

If the dealer said that: go find another shop. I had the same problem on my wife's Escape and it's worth the ag just to end the problem.

SOURCE: a/c blows cold parked then blows hot after a few miles

engine fan not kicking in at right interval to bring air in so its pulling in hot air threw ducts
or you have a disconnected duct blowing all air out not to right place

guages could be faulty or bad a/c relay

SOURCE: Dual Temperature controls inside - 2002 lincoln ls

The problem is most likely a bad dual climate control valve. This component is located on the right side near the radiator under the hood. It will have several coolant hoses hooked to it and 2 silver cylinders protruding from it. You can clamp off the heater hoses at the heater core and see if both sides cool then and this will tell you that the valve is letting coolant thru when it shouldn't be.

This will narrow it down to either the valve or the control head inside the car,or wiring in between them. The only way to narrow it down further is if you have a scan tool that could access the climate control data. Have seen several of these valves cause this concern and have only seen one control head cause it.

04 lincoln aviator AC blows warm after charge

Hope you have fixed this by now. Look up internet articles about a diagnostic sequence for your climate control. On some of the units a sequence of button pressing will generate a exam. It could be a ductwork door is not working to allow chilled air into the cabin.

Remember several things. The pressure reading of 30 may not be Freon but contaminated air and Freon. 30 is a measure of pressure or volume but not purity. Then depending if the system is clogged, the high pressure cut off switch that is measured on the high pressure hose may be cutting out the freon flow.

Air conditioning system, when you turn on the air conditioner the drivers side blows cold air and the passengers side blows hot air? What causes this problem?

The most common cause of this is that you have a stuck air temperature control blend door, this can be a motor actuator issue or a jammed door or both (common). To replace both parts you will need to completely remove the dash from the car to access the blend door.
