88? ,very old
what engine?
1.5 L EW5 (DA2)
1.6 L ZC(DA1 & DA3)
1.6 L D16A1 (DA1 & DA3) my guess, is the RAD fans dont turn on as the FSM directs?
and enging cooling question.
the fan is control by a relay and the cooling fan thermo switch
the relay white wire goes to the termo switch
the switch ground this white wire to activate the fan.
find.. i dont have the fsm only schematics.
the switch can only be 2 places on all car. in the RAD tank(look)
or on the water jackets of the engine.
my guess? see front of engine, front is #1 cylinder.
see main thermostat housing at 10pm?
to the right are 2 sensors, the one with a single with wire. bingo.
i see 2 ,secrewed in to cyl. head, there.

Location of thermostatic switch 1993 Buick Regal 3.8 motor fan motors don't run

The fans are controlled by the ECM and it uses the ECT sensor for temperature sensing, so if the check engine light isn't on the sensor is not the problem. You need to have an active test run on the fan system to see what code is returned. Have you tried powering up the fans at the relay?

Locating thermostat switch

What turns on the radiator fan is the engine coolant temp sensor. It is mounted in the block or the cyl head.

Fans are not working at all

CHECK COOLING FANS FUSES, FUSE LINK, RELAY IF ALL IS GOOD THE COOLING FAN THERMOSTATIC SWITCH COULD BE BAD. THERMOSTATIC SWITCH IS LOCATED ON THE BOTTOM LEFT HAND END OF THE RADIATOR.

The cooling fan on radiator is not working, where is thermostat switch?

If it is an electric fan there will be a thermostatic switch and it shoud be located on the outlet tank on the radiator. Short out the terminals on the switch with the ignition on and the fans shoud then run if the switch is faulty.

Radiator fan not working fan is ok

There is a cable connecting from radiator fan to thermostat switch.
Thermostat switch located at near engine block, you can trace it from radiator hose to engine block, there is a terminal connected to thermostat.
To check wheter fan is ok or not, pull out/disconnet the terminal, radiator fan will be turned on, if not, this could be a problem with radiator fan.
Otherwise you should clean terminal or replace thermostat switch.

2002 monte carlo overheating

Better make sure the fan works. There is a switch on the radiator that turns the fan on when it gets to a certain temperature. It could be the fan or the switch. Your thermostat is not your cap, it's in a different location. (Usually at the engine end of the upper radiator hose) Get the leak check! A good garage can pressure test the system to see what leaks you might have.

VW Polo Classic 1.6 Radiator fan not going on

Try moving the fan blades by hand to see if the fan spins freely to see if the problem is frozen bearings in the fan motor. Replace the fan motor if it doesn't turn. If it spins freely disconnect the wires and hook the fan directly to the battery using a jumper. If it runs the problem is most likely the thermostatic switch. If it doesn't the fan motor is bad.
