I have been going crazy trying to find a wiring diagram for the O2 sensors on my 2005 Ford Expedition. I need to know which wires are the "Signal" wires on upstream, and downstream sensors. I would appreciate any help

Designations for sensors: Bank 1, sensor 1- Bank 1 is always the side where #1 cylinder is,

  • montehammons Dec 24, 2013

oops, to continue: Bank 2 is opposite side of bank 1, Sensor 1 is upstream sensor, sensor 2 is downstream sensor. So if designation is HO2S-2,2-means downstream sensor (behind the cat), bank 2.

  • montehammons Dec 24, 2013

Yah! Bank side is first designation then up or dowstream design. as, HO2S 2;1 means heated oxy. sensor, bank 2, sensor 1 (upstream- nearest engine).

SOURCE: installing chip and want to double check wiring. Need to find IAT/MAF sensor diagram for 2003 Ford Ranger

Save your money, the chip is a ohm resistor at Radio Shack for under $2.00. It splices in to you IAT wire harness located at the intake tube between the air filter housing and throttle body.
Problem with this system is, that you can not adjust anything and have to run a constant 91 octane just to make sure you do not have a Detonation. The ECM will catch the Detonation from the knock sensor and compensate for it by retarding the timing which in turn lose of HP till next start up.
If you like and don't mind the check engine light on once and awhile, you can do the same by just disconnecting the IAT wire harness which give the ECM a 0 resistance thinking it's -20 out side and turn the timing up and lengths the injector pules.
When i was running a Nitro in the Toy before i sold it, i had installed a 10K ohm Potentiometer which you can buy at radio shack for under $5.00 i believe, I just spliced it in to the IAC wire harness so if i wanted to play with the Nitro I'ld turn the resistor up making the engine think it's 185 degrees F and would ****** the timing so i would not hurt the engine. But if i wanted to get more timing i would just turn the knob to drop the resistance to get more time since the engine thinks it's -20 out side.
Hope this helps. Keep me posted if you need more info. Best thing is to do a dyno tune and you can change everything right down to the Shift points.

SOURCE: getting a code po171 on a '98 ford expedition...O2

CODE PO171 -SYSTEM ADAPTIVE FUEL TOO LEAN. POSSIBLE CAUSE.AIR LEAKS AFTER THE MAF SENSOR OR LEAKS IN THE PVC SYSTEM. EXHAUST LEAKS BEFORE OR NEAR WHERE THE HO2S IS MOUNTED. FUEL INJECTORS RESTRICTED OR NOT SUPPLYING ENOUGH FUEL. FUEL PUMP WEAK. LEAKING EGR VALVE GASKET OR DIAPHRAGM.MAF SENSOR DIRTY CAUSES PCM TO UNDERESTIMATE AIR FLOW / NOW THE BANK 1 SENSOR ITS MOUNTED IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM BEFORE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.THE BANK 2 SENSOR IS IN EXHAUST AFTER THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.

2001 Ford Expedition. How to change the o2 sensor on it please?

Question edited for clarity and spelling of 'Expedition'.
Question moved from Misc to model category.

Yes, depending if they are upstream or downstream, they can be hard to reach and really need to be up on a lift at a garage.

Videos that might help, but it is a fast job for a pro tech and you need a special wrench.

Can someone give a diagram location of up and downstream 02 sensors on 2003 ford expedition?

The upstream O2 sensors are just off the engine exhaust manifolds, the downstream sensor is located aft of the catalytic converter, it is not called an O2 sensor it is referred to as the catalyst efficiency monitor.

P0136, P1131, and P1151 codes on Ford Expedition 2000 4.6L

Your auto has four O2 sensors. Two upstream and two downstream; With two banks. Bank 1, sensor 1...and bank 2, sensor 1 are the two upstream (exhaust manifold before the catalytic). Bank 1, sensor 2 and bank 2, sensor 2 (other side of catalytic)

Code 1131= upstream; bank 1..sensor 1
Code 1151= upstream; bank 2..sensor 1
Code P0136 (generic code) bank 1..sensor 2 (questionable)

I wouldn't spend the money to purchase 3 sensors. Highly unlikely all three are bad; Cost is about $40/ ea.
Since there isn't a code for the cat's themselves, I would suspect the O2 circuit is malfunctioning. The rough idle is another clue.

Take an ohmmeter set it on X10 scale and measure the resistance from engine to body and body to negative post on battery terminal. You should read zero ohms (full needle deflection). If you do go buy two upstream O2 sensors. If you read
open or a high resistance run two straps from eng. to body...and body to neg.batt. post.
