2006 grand prix overheating

2006 Grand Prix: Heat goes from hot to cold and then temp gauge goes up to a little past over heating. when I accelerate the temp gauge drops down to either half way mark or just a little under half and blows heat again. Changed head gasket and thermostat but still doing the same thing. I noticed reserve tank was still full and the radiator itself was not, so I filled radiator up and put a NEW cap on it. Was fine for a couple days and then last night started doing it again and this time it seemed like a little puttering as well. I also noticed white smoke still coming out exhaust even after head gasket changed was changed. Things I have changed head gasket, thermostat, radiator cap, timing belt ( it needed replaced),

I have a 2006 pontiac grand prix 3.8l my heat only blow cold aair I checked the thermostat and the heart inlet hose is hot but the outlet hose is luke war what could this be maybe clogged heater core.

Ok fellow 2006 Grand Prix owners!! By trial and error, I went through the process of elimination because my car would over heat and had no heat inside. After changing the thermostat, I had to replace the water pump. However, after you do this, you need to open the inlet hose bleeder and let the air out a few times. This solved my issue of overheating and I now have great heat!!!

I am getting a little heat from my 2006 Grand Prix when I put the thermostat all the way to hot and the blower on the lowest setting but not very much. I can barely feel the difference between the temp...

make sure the engine is getting to operating temp (195f) you may need the heater core "flushed" and coolant replaced, usually flushing the core will fix that IF the air temp doors are working correctly.

I had my 2006 grand prix fix 3 times for the tempature gage and stilss the gage goes over the 3 line

I think you should start thinking it might not be the gage itself but >Problem with the wires in the circuit itself Also warm car up take a thermometer & check coolant tempature cross referance with temp gauge in the car

is the temp gauge working and showing the engine is warmed up? also check the heater hoses in the engine compartment ensure both are at the same or close to the same temp. if they are not could have plugged heater core. try flushing. possible blend door could be stuck.

2006 pontiac grand prix vary little or no heat

Are you sure you got all the air out of the cooling system? Air pockets are very common problem when you do any work to the cooling system. An air pocket will do what you discribe.
