SOURCE: Check Engine Light 1996 Nissan Maxima

The best way is to use a scan tool to clear the codes, that will turn off the light, also disconnecting the battery over night may work, but no completely sure about that, it varies from year to year.

SOURCE: location of a o2 sensor 2001 nissan maxima

bank 1 refers to the side of the engine that #1 cylinder is on , and sensor 2 refers to downstream , after the catalytic converter. , this link shows bank 1 on a 2001 nissan maxima V6 being on the firewall side . if you had a 4 cylinder it would be downstream after the catalytic converter .

My 02' Nissan altima stalls when its cold. But

It is probably the "cold start" cycle. A Temperature sensor will send a signal to the computer in order to make the fuel charge rich and change the timing. This will last less than 3 minutes on many cars.

The process is similar to the old "choke" system adding a timing change to the rich fuel mix. Many cars have 2 Temperature sensors and for those you want to change the one that does NOT work the dash gauge or light. The sensor you want is dedicated to providing temperature info to the computer.

Please rate my info.

My car runs fine but when I push the gas pedal in nutral It won't go past 2 rpms. When I drive the 2001 Maxima it gves me problems once I reach 50 mph

Sounds like a problem with the fuel injector or the sensors for the unit. This probably needs computer analysis for rectification.

My 96 nissan quest needs start twice or with stepping on the gas pedel. Not always. I can start every morning. battery check is good. gas pump changed two years ago. please give me some advice on the...

this is known as a "cold start" problem. common possibilities include a restricted fuel filter, clogged or dirty injectors, or even a problem with the coolant temperature sensor (CTS) or oxygen (O2) sensor.

1998 Nissan Maxima

You may have a problem with the check valve in the fuel pump, if this valve is defective the gas drains back to the fuel tank and causes long crank times, you can test this by hooking up a fuel pressure guage at the fuel injector fuel supply line on the top of the engine, run the engine for a moment and quickly record the pressure when you shut down, that pressure reading should not drop more than 5 PSI overnight, if the check valve is bad the pressure will most likely start to drop right away, but do the over night test anyway. If this is the problem you will need to replace the fuel pump in the gas tank.
