Car has power but will not start up

Is it a petrol or a diesel? Are you sure it's a power steering light? What does the light look like?

try the idle control valve it could be starting to fail.

Do you hear anything when you try to start it? If not, it's probably a bad battery. Your dome light (and all other accessories) require a tiny amount of power compared to your starter, so, it's possible that your battery has enough power for your dome lights but not enough to start the car. Try jumpstarting the car, if that starts it then you probably need a new battery.

These early 90's vehicles had alot of problems with the antitheft systems. When they fail, they actually cut power to the starter or injectors. Look for a light on the dash that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT. You see this light, go to this link for answers.

Check battery voltage as well as alternator voltage.

distributor module.... any recent tune-ups? e.g= cap,rotor,wires,plugs? parts are reasonably priced and labor should be around 1 hour... start there...

check to see if the accessory drive belt broke that runs the alternator and power steering pump if not have the alternator and battery checked it sounds like the car just lost all charge

do you know if you have an anti-thieft device in your car. sounds like it may be armed and connected to your battery.

Check your battery terminal connections.

chek the alternator
