you need to ck some basics you could have a vacuum leak which would hide during warm up but cause havoc when hot,the leak would cause high idle then your pcm would try to lower idle to spec thru use of idle control motor causing surging idle ,also fuel pressure needs to be checked while acting up,may be more cost effective to pay for an hour of diagnostic.

If you had a fault with the crank sencer your car would not start.Sounds like the air flow meter is giving you the problems.

Find your firewall electrical junction block (where all the wires enter the cabin on the passenger side) and with a zip tie pull up the wire bundle so it does not ride on the upper tie rods and, fasten the zip tie to anything that is solid in the engine compartment and, let me know what happens

I would start the engine and let it warm up. Once it is warm spray some WD-40 around the intake manifold gaskets and around all vacuum lines and fitting you can get to. If you hear the engine start to stumble, concentrate the spray on that area until you are able to pinpoint the fault.
