I have a 1991 Chevy Silverado K1500 Z71. Recently the AC light on the control panel started flashing. This occurs when the ignition switch is in the on position. According to the owner's manual; this occurs due to low refrigerant charge. I drained the refrigerant. pulled a vacuum for 1hr., closed the gauge valve for 10 min. to see if the vacuum would hold, installed an R134A conversion kit and charged the system with R134A. The pressure on the R134A gauge is almost in the red zone and the AC light still flashes. The compressor clutch never kicks in. The fuse is good. What would be the logical next move?
Disconnecting the battery cleared the flashing AC light. That; in conjunction with placing a jumper on the low pressure switch, allowed me to finish charging the system. I disconnected the jumper and reconnected the low pressure switch during the recharging process. The compressor cycled on and off a few times and then the flashing AC light reappeared. The jumper must stay in place until the system is almost completely charged. It will certainly speed up the charging process. With the recirculate button on, the air from the vents is now 42.7 degrees. Without recirculation, the air is 53.8 degrees. Thanks

Try disconnecting the battery for a minute or so and reconnect it. Believe it or not this has worked for me numerous times. If this doesn't work then disconnect the switch on the accumulator. The accumulator is located in the low side (big) hose near the firewall on the passenger side of truck. Using a paperclip jump the two wires (harness side) together with engine running and a/c on. If compressor kicks on when jumped either it's low on freon or the switch is bad. Hope this is helpful.

Okay dude here it is. Sounds like you are off a tooth. the timing is controlled by the computer therefore a timing light will not work because it moves it all the time. what you have to do is move the distributor 1 tooth and if it wont start move it the other way. I had the same problem with my 96 K1500 after I replaced the intake gaskets. The dash should be flashing a code about multple misfires if its off the tooth. Good luck
