I have 2005 nissan sentra. The trunk of my car is not opening. When I press the remote or push button from inside front to open,it give me sound as the latch is operating ,but its not opening.
Sounds like the trunk latch actuator is out.
There is a "cancel" button inside the trunk that makes the trunk lever release inoperable. In this mode you can only use the key to open the trunk. Open the trunk with the key, look around the locking mechanism and slide the button.
If you are still having the problem...I got the fix. If you are hearing the latch move but the trunk isn't opening, it's the lever. If you can get into your trunk at all (with a key) then you can fix it.
Open trunk, look down at the middle where the trunk lid connects with bottom latch. There is a small lever that you can move up or down. Pull it up. It must be in the up position to unlatch all the way.
Look the latches on these nissans are ****, every so often mine was falling down. When the key stopped working to open the trunck I looked at the latch and saw the gap that goes up and down in the latch. This latch needs to move so get a wide enough small nut and bolt push it throw the latch then attach the nut, don't tighten all the way, just enough to prevent the latch from falling back down. Now you always have it up and your trunk should pop when pressing the trunck release button. It's a flaw with nissan and I don't feel the need to pay more money to have it fixed!
I am having the same problem. I slid the latch all the way up and it still isnt working. When I hit the release button with the lid open, everything is working. What could be wrong?
Nissan is good on gas, true, but my crank and cam sensors go out every 6 months, the trunk latch won't work, the recalls don't get adaquately repair, and Nissan is not all that once you add up the expense list....

actually the locks to bring down the rear seat are in side of the trunk
Please describe your 99 buick trunk latch wont release by key or electric button key turns beyond normal position problem:
Most Nissans have a ring behind each rear seat that you pull up to release the seat.
If the key does not work, you can go to a locksmith and get it opened. Once opened unload the rear seats until you get the trunk latch fixed.
You need to be able to get to a spare tire.
You can fold down the rear seats and with a flashlight and tools reach through and open the lock.
Found the lever inside the trunk and all is well. thanks
