New bat/alternator still won't start next day.

Just got new battery, oil change, new alternator belt. Car stopping intermittently, then after ten or so minutes starts. Driving to mechanic, stopped again in traffic. They replaced the alternator ($250), everything was great. Next day, car won't start again, can't boost, can't pop clutch to start. Waiting for tow truck now.

Check the fusible links for power on both sides. sounds like the one to keep battery charged has popped.

Testimonial: "Today I started right up with no problem. The last thing my mechanic did before I left yesterday was tighten the battery. He said the bolts weren't as tight as they could have been -- I watched him do it. He said "problem fixed". The real test will be if I don't start my car on Sunday at all and it still starts fine on Monday. Eventually will have to address the lock problem when $$ comes in.... Where are the fusible links located?"

Today is 1/21/13. From my last post when I mentioned the mechanic tightened the battery connections that PepBoy installed two weeks before, everything has been fine. I've driven my car w/no problem. Today -- car won't start. Loud click click click click, and more clicks. Radio, interior lights are all fine but the car won't start. The click is veery loud. Mechanic is coming tomorrow to jump and see what the problem is. Did the broken driver side lock take this long to drain my new PepBoy battery. We shall see, I hope.

SOURCE: Engine oil light flickers despite new sender and car battery

HI, i would double check that sending unit for lose or bad connections. make sure the wires are in good condition. if everything checks out ok with the new sender, it could be that the oil pump is malfunctioning or, the oil pump screen is dirty or clogged.

There's a relay that's under the dash. keep turning the key until you find what's clicking then replace that relay, the car should start.

Brad,
I too have the same vehicle with the same problem, however I don't think its a battery or alternator problem. I thought those were it at first too however after getting both checked that was not the case. My friends and family who have experience with cars think this is a computer glich of some kind, let me know if you figure this out!
Thanks,
David

I changed the battery and the altenator and the car still wont start

Are you sure that you hooked up the alternator correctly? It sounds like the battery is draining and not being recharged. Of course, it could be a voltage regulator that is going bad. Here's a tip to test the alternator- get a boost to start the car. Disconnect the battery and see if the car dies. The car should run from the alternator. The battery is only needed to start the car. So, if the car continues to run with only the alternator, then there is a problem with the battery.

Two weeks ago, when I went to Acura deller for oil change, they sugested me change the battery, since I never got a problem for start, so i did not change the battary. But next day I can not start my car,...

First make sure the terminal and posts are clean and greased.

Then make sure the alternator belt is tight.

The type of battery makes no difference as long as it fits.

What matters is whether or not the alternator is putting out 13.5 volts or higher, in order to keep the battery at 12.5 volts. Put a voltmeter on the battery and rev the engine.

Guages stop and irratic idle with dimming lights

what probley happened the alternator started to heat up alittle to much and caused the belt to spin on the pulley i would go ahead and get the alternator replaaced as soon as possible. as for the lights dimming and the gauges not working you was running off your battery making the vehicle mess up i would also get your battery checked while your at it.
