My 2000 isuzu Rodeo wont start, have been told it is related to the Alarm or Anti-theft, any idea. We replaced Starter switch, thinking that was the problem. It makes a single click.
Double check ground cable. Do a voltage drop test. Weak grounds or positive cables will not allow adequate electrical flow to start the vehicle. Make sure your battery good. Bad cables kill batteries.
Could be your neutral safety switch, or it's not all the way in park. Broken or loose wires in the starting circuit. Inspect all wires and connectors at the battery, starter solenoid, and ignition switch. Or your starter pinion is jammed in the ring gear. Remove starter and inspect. Last but not least, your engine is seized. You don't want that one. Good luck.

Thank you, the truck will start after 4 or 5 tries, so i know the engine isn't seized :) I will try the other suggestions, I've also been told it could be the alarm also.
sometimes it starts but then it like chokes itself out and just quits running. It will also high idle over 2000 rpm and then it won't start unless we tap on the relay box what the hell is going on?
@snowball137. I have the same issue with starting the truck. I have a 2001 model and is doing the same as you said. Also I have noticed that the remote key/alarm won't work before we attempt to start the truck, so that makes me think that is something related to the anti-theft system (or at least part of the problem). Has your issue been resolved yet?
