My f-100 was saved from a field after a long period of time, mice or rats destroyed the wire harness. I have a new v-regulator/solenoid/alt/and batt12v. looking for diagram. Also just replaced old engine w/re-manufactured 302-2bll carb.
You can find a wiring diagram at autozone.com. You can register for free; list your make, model, year, and engine size when registering.
After registering, click on "repair help", then "vehicle repair guides", scroll down to "chassis electrical", click on that. Scroll down to "wiring diagrams" under "select a chapter". When wiring diagrams come up, scroll down to the two pages on the '81 F-100. Good luck.

look for a fusible link out. You need to check for output on the alternator that you installed. make sure the batteries are fully charged before that, otherwise its not going to read right. start from the source. also, you can disconnect the batteries from the sys and do a continuity check on the wires in the loom, so you can see if current has a path, or if you have an open circuit. hope this helps
