I'm not 100% positive about a 1992 Toronado, but on my 1986 Toronado the BCM is behind and to the upper left of the glove box, and the ECM is behind the right side kick panel in front of the door. GM had a habit of moving them around from year to year.

SOURCE: location of the temperature sending unit on a 1991 olds toronado

Ok, you have three sensors on this engine that work together to manage the temperature reading that are sent to the gauge. i recommend checking all three to be safe. i will list the sensors and, locations below.

1. Coolant temperature sensor- Under hood, driver side, upper engine area, above transmission bell housing, mounted in driver side end of intake manifold.

2. Engine Temperature sensor- Under hood, driver side, upper engine area, mounted on rear cylinder head

3. Temperature switch.- Under hood, center, lower engine area, above oil filter, rear of coolant temperature sensor, mounted in engine block

Is the ac compressor controlled by the computer on a 87 olds toronado?

An '87 Olds Toronado has three computers: the ECM (engine control module), the BCM (body control module), and the IPC ( instrument panel cluster). The A/C compressor is controlled by the body control module.

Where is the ecm at

" It is on the passenger side right above the floor and below the glove box, the plack piece hiding it has 3 bolts, just remove them and its the silver bov. Also to get the ECM out you need to remove the bracket holdin it in!" I copied this for info of the ecm location. You probably have to remove the glove box to locate the ecm.

BCM and Ecm locations

ECM should be behind the passenger's side kick panel, under and to the right of the glovebox. The BCM is behind the glovebox, toward the top and to the left.

Dash inop

There are several things that could cause this problem. If you can't do the testing yourself, you should take it to a reputable shop that specializes in electrical diagnostics. It could be a fuse, a wiring problem, or something in the dash cluster itself. Your Toronado has at least three computers (the IPC, the BCM, and the ECM) as well as a Central Power Supply module. Pinpointing problems is not a simple task.
Check all the fuses. Is it an intermittent problem? Are all the gauges not working? Can you retrieve any error codes?
A common problem with the digital dash cluster is that eventually the capacitors leak, causing display problems.

How do you reset the BCM on a 1989 Oldsmobile Toronado

The 89 models do not have a BCM. If you are talking about resetting the ECM, then disconnect the batter, wait a couple minutes, and reconnect it.

Rear shocks have inflated fully and will not go back down

it would be cheaper to replace the shocks with the same as you have on the car now. otherwise you have to have other things done to the car to make new different shocks workfor the car
