2002 mitsubishi galant, accidentally crossed positive and negative cables while jumping. Car stalls randomly and starts randomly. I replaced fuseable link on positive battery cable because it was blown. Code scan showed o2 sensor bad, had upstream and downstream replaced along with egr. Replaced loose negative battery terminal and random stalling persists. Car will crank, but not always start. This is getting expensive and problem still not solved. Please help! Thanks in advance.

You prpbably need a new ECM/computer. Nissan had a problem with the ECM box and the foam inside the box. The glue, which Nissan used to attach the foam onto the box EATS up your computer internaly. The vapors from the glue it self damage the ECM/computer. Nissan actually has a campaign to remove the foams out of the ECM box. By the way ECM has 80000 mile warantee, so if your car has less than that, Nissan will replace it for free. I see it all the time. Sentra with heater circuit code
needs an ECM 95% of the time.

Has it overheated lately?
My wife overheated our Galant and it just stopped working, it cranks but that's it.
I pulled the sparkplugs and found them wrapped in a gewey jelly like substance. Like an oil/antifreeze combo.
I am going to replace the entire motor for $1000 as taking it to the mechanics to theorize and practice may cost more.

Upstream, as in ahead of the converter, back toward engine. Start at converter and work your way back, should be on exhaust pipe or even on manifold.

It seems like a ground problem. First check all fuses to see that they have a good contact. Second, verify the battery terminals for good contact. Third verify the charging condition in the alternator battery system., remember shoul be around 14volts with car running.

Mitsubishi 2001 Galant battery drain

Do not disconnect the positive Or negative cable while vehicle is running it is no longer an acceptable test and damage to computers could occur as there is no ability to suppress or absorb a voltage spike. If you remove the negative cable to check for an amperage draw that's an other thing. You should use a meter and connect it in series between the neg post and the neg cable once all modules are in sleep mode there should be no more than .3v as a rule of thumb. If more you have a parasitic draw which you could isolate the system/circuit by removing fuses one at a time. When the draw is gone that's the circuit in question.

Car stalled out one day . I changed the battery and fuel pump and it still doesn't start. Cranks but won't turn over? Can anyone pls help me

Check ALL of your fuses. The flat fuses, the square block fuses under the hood, and the the alternator fuse that is part of the positive cable clamp. It is easy to short tha block fuses that most people do not even think to check. That is why you always unhook the negative battery cable when working on the car. With any luck a $2 fuse will get you started again.

Tried to jump my 2003 galant and the cables would spark when trying to connect negative

Be ceratin you have jumper cables to correct terminals. Also, you may connect both jumper cables to the battery of the car your getting power from (be certain not to let other ends of cables touch) connect the positive lead of car being jumped to the battery's positive terminal, then connect the negative lead to the cars ground, not directly to the negative on the battery. Getting a spark when jumping is very common. You do not want to create the spark at the battery because the fumes from the battery acid can be explosive...... That can go very bad! When removing remove the grounded, to the jumped car, and then carefully remove the rest. Again be certain to not let the leads touch.

Please let me know if this had assited you,

Thanks,
Tom

i think you have a stuck compressor. check the clutch plate of the compressor. use a wrench to turn the nut at the center of the clutch. see if the plate turns either way. it should..if it does not turn, then it is frozen.
