First one door, then 10 minutes later the other door will not budge. Its like they are frozen shut, but its not cold enough. We tried manually unlocking, remote unlocking, opening from inside the van, outside the van, car on, car off...nothing. cannot open either sliding door. I have the same problem with my 2000 sienna. Passenger side sliding door got jammed first, that was few months ago. Now driver side sliding door is jammed. They both are manual. This is 9-10 years old car with more than 120,000 miles. I do not want to spend lot of money to fix them. Is there any easy solution? Anyone?

OK, here you go:
Pry out on the bottom of the cupholder bottom, relieve 2 clips, pull the bottom out & slide it down
Remove the door trim screw, and pry out on the door panel, relieve 10 clips, pull door trim off
Remove the horizontal upper trim cover at the top of the door; relieve 4 clips
Remove the vertical door trim cover; relieve 2 clips
Remove the window garnish around the handle; pull the small trim cover off; remove 3 screws
This exposes the inside handle
The inside handle is retained by 2 screws.

The oil is drained nomally, as you would do in any other car. The oil is drained from a plug on the oil pan; use a new gasket before you refit the drain plug/bolt onto the oil pan. Toyota part number for the drain plug gasket: 90430-12028.
The oil filter cartridge does require some info, though. In the box with the new filter-cartridge, you get 2 O-rings. Please make sure that you use them, or your filter housing WILL leak. Hope this helps, Thnaks for choosing FixYa to assist you with your question.

If you can remove the inner door panel you will see a maze of cables running to the various locking points on the sliding door. If the cable going to the FRONT latch on the sliding door is broken (or in my case, simply dislodged inside the door) the door acts as if it is frozen shut.
The front cable is short, and easily replaced even by a newbie mechanic.

This may or may not work depending on exactly what is wrong with the door, I cant tell what is wrong without looking at it directly however:
You can try starting with all doors closed and unlocked, keys in hand disconnecting the battery and letting the vehicle sit for 2 min or so, then reconnect the battery. Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the on position but do not start the van. Next press the button to disable the power sliding door for the drivers side, then manually open the door fully, wait 5 seconds, then close it manually fully. Press button the button again to re-enable the power sliding door, then try to use it with the automatic feature either by pulling the handle or using your remote, this may or may not work depending on if the door has somehow become de-initialized (it should work now) however if something is broken inside the door closing mechanism or door closed/open sensors, the door will continue to malfunction.

To start, the noun "''rear latch switch'' is incorrect. It's actually called "Slide Door Lock". It's located on page BO-20 of the Toyota Repair Manual for the 2001 Sienna. There are two door locks on one sliding door. One in the front and one in the rear. Obviously, you want the one in the rear. The location for the "Slide Door Lock" (which also contains an electric switch) is in the rear of the sliding door located mid way up door. You can see (sliding door opened from the back) it without dissembling the door. And, the lock is made up of plastic (dirty white in color).

I think the answer would be "yes" to question of electric door locks. We were able to lock and unlock all the doors with remote.
I was trying to open the door, I slid a knife from front where lock would be and now I can open the driver side sliding door. I don't think I opened the lock or anything mechanically, it was a very light slide of the knife, I did not feel or hear anything when I slid the knife. My guess is there could be some electrical problem, which got short circuited or something when I slid the knife.
The other side door handle is broken and still I cannot open that, even after sliding knife on that side. I think cable connecting the handle on that side might be broken. Anyway I am happy I can atleast open one of the sliding doors. Let me know if disconnecting battery for few minutes might solve the problem for others if knife sliding does not work.
If your door(s) are completely closed and will not open you may have to release the secondary latch manually if the door is slightly ajar then you may have debris in the door track
