Condition • Some customers may comment on an intermittent malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) being Illuminated with a message or an indicator that displays Reduced Engine Power. • The technician may observe on a scan tool DTC P2138 - Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 1-2 Correlation set as Current or in History.
CauseThis condition may be caused by water intrusion into the instrument panel (IP) to body harness connector, which carries the APP sensor signals to the ECM/PCM. This water intrusion results in a voltage difference between APP Sensor 1 and APP Sensor 2 that exceeds a predetermined value for more than a calibrated period of time, setting P2138.

Correction

Note: Aftermarket equipment can generate DTC P2138 and/or other DTCs.
  1. Verify that aftermarket equipment is not electrically connected to any of the APP sensor signal or low reference circuits or to any other ECM/PCM 5V reference or low reference circuits. Refer to Checking Aftermarket Accessories in SI.
  2. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle.
  3. ? If any 5V reference DTCs are set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle. ? If any 5V reference DTCs are not set, proceed to Step 3.
  4. Locate the IP to body harness connector, which may be located in and around the left hand kick panel area or inside the IP. Depending on the vehicle and model year, refer to Wiring Systems or Power and Signal Distribution in SI.
  5. Note: Some examples of potential water leaks are: A-pillar seals, sunroof drain lines (if equipped) and windshield/cowl sealing.
  6. Inspect for a water leak in the area. If necessary use a water hose to determine the source of the leak. Refer to General Information > Water Leaks in SI.
  7. ? If a water leak is observed, repair as necessary. Verify the effectiveness of the repair.
  8. Inspect the IP to body harness connector terminals for corrosion and debris. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in SI.
  9. ? If any corrosion and/or debris is observed, repair as necessary.
  10. After completing the repair, verify the proper operation of the system. Depending on the vehicle and model year, perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification procedure or refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle in SI.
This is as service bulletin I located. Is there any additional codes present.Would definitely check that harness connection for corrosion and is vehicle running poorly?

SOURCE: reduce power stays on car wont go over 20

If with that running condition the car also has a flashing service engine light and/or it also starts up and runs smoothly with no misfire, then likely what has happened is something called "abuse mode" has been activated.

In an attempt to thwart off having to pay for warranty repairs, GM programmed into the PCM (powertrain control module) some operating parameters that if they were exceeded would then activate this "abuse mode" and give you the problem that you're having. So if you've done any type of drag staging type of driving like full throttle starts or burnouts, they basically have the car "tell on you" because they're sure something will break. However, there is still one other cause and it won't turn on your service engine soon light.
That could likely be the fuel pump. That fuel pump has two speeds, one meant for low speed driving when fuel pressure need is lower and the high speed for when it needs more pressure. The two speed design helps deter premature pump failure by not having the pump operate at full capacity at lower speeds such as 20mph. If something has happened to the fuel pump relay however, the pump speed won't switch with throttle response or other load changing parameters. The relay is located in the fuse panel under the engine hood...I think on your car it's still on the passenger side. When you remove the cover check it's underside for the diagram to locate the relay. It's problem is NOT readily evident by looking at it; it will be internal and I'll have to refer you to another source how to test it properly, although I can tell you that you'll need a multimeter for it.
If the relay is fine, then the PCM I'm assuming will need to be re-flashed and done at the dealership too as disabling the abuse mode is probably password protected and obtainable by your VIN. Checking in with the guys at www.gtpworld.com will get you some answers about that.

SOURCE: engine and reduced engine power light comes on then car wont restar

Hello
The Engine and Automatic Transmission (not applicable to manual transmissions) in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. Also always check fuel pressure for correct spec for your make and engine type.

O2 sensors can cause this and often they clear up after a good run.

Have a 2011 Chevy Cruze engine light is on with a arrow pointing down

The light is displayed when a noticeable reduction in your vehicles performance may occur. The vehicle may be driven at a reduced speed when reduced engine power light is on but acceleration and speed may be reduced. The performance may be reduced until the next time you drive your vehicle. If the light stays on see your dealer as soon as possible for diagnosis and repair. If you run out of gas, the light may be lit since there is no power.

Where is the DRL relay located?

There is no DRL relay , has a lamp control module .
The daytime running lamps (DRL) activate under the following conditions:
?€¢
The ignition switch is in the RUN position.

?€¢
The ambient light sensor indicates daylight.

?€¢
The vehicle is not in the PARK position.

When the above conditions are met, the lamp control module (LCM) supplies battery positive voltage (B+) to the low beam headlamps through CKT 589 (GRY), the DRL resistor, and CKT 12 (TAN). The DRL resistor reduces the voltage supplied by the LCM. The low beam headlamps light at a reduced intensity. The DRL disable if the vehicle is placed in the PARK position. When the ambient light sensor indicates darkness, the low beam headlamps automatically switch from a reduced intensity to a regular intensity.

Why is security light on after i replaced old battery with new one wont start now ?

You lost power to the security module and it now needs a "relearn" performed. Make sure the battery stays connected for this relearn.

Turn the ignition to the "on" position and verify that the theft light is on or blinking. Then leave the key on for at least 30 minutes without disturbing the vehicle. After 30 minutes come back to vehicle and observe the theft light. Should be on steady or off. Do not turn the key off, move it from "run" to "start" and attempt to start vehicle. Engine should start and run if system was successfully relearned.

I have a 2003 Envoy- GMC. Why does the reduce engine speed light come on

you need to scan you vehicles ECM, there is a trouble code stored there. depending on where you live most parts stores( such as a shucks/orielleys) will have a scan tool they will let you use if the vehicle is in thier parking lot. this should diagnose the issue, provided the battery hasnt been disconnected since then.

Reduce engine light comes on with a/c use.

Most likely it is the fan clutch as it is computer controlled. I have had 2 in the shop this year with the same problem. To be sure, have someone check the codes before you start spending your hard earned dollars.
