What problem should I Look for first on my starter?

Where is the starter and wires located on my 1985 Mercedes Benz 190.D -2.2 Engine/ Desiel?

Bolted to the belhousing by 2 bolts on passanger side of vehicle. 1 main power wire (hot at all times) and a signal wire(small only hot in start position grounded by nuetral saftey switch) check to see if both connections are tight and also check the 13 mm. hot lead at back of alternater. make sure you disconnect the negative battery cable in case you accidently ground you wrench

Sounds like the same problem as the 230e.
Eratic fuel pump operation,check for corroded terminals on fuel pump relays on o/s inside front gaurd.

Fuelfilter

Go underneath of car, on the rear passenger seat side, there is a plastic cover holding by 3 screws. Remove this cover, there is a fuel filter inside.

Can't get free, but you can get a Haynes Manual for around 20 bucks it will have what you need
Go to any parts house and they'll have one specificly for your car.

there should be a vaccum operated selonoid on the injector pump(it's on the drivers side of the engine)check and see if you have a bad/disconnected line there.

Mercedes benz 1992 190E

Lift the hood. Just below the screen, opposite side from battery, you'll see a plastic cover shielding the engine management, abs control box etc. If you search around there after removing the shield/ cover you will find a relay with a fuse plugged into the top of it. This is the pump / system relay.
