Make sure that your side stand isn't down, or the side stand switch isn't busted, that will stop you moving off, if it is down or is busted.
Could be the clutch though not adjusted properly

Your clutch isn't stopping the tranny. Can you adjust it? It needs to be tighter. I'm not much of a bike guy, and haven't owned one since i was a kid, but i know i could adjust the clutch cable.

I would think so. Your clutch is dragging so when you put it in gear it kills it, and it won't start because it can't spin it good enough. I'm just guessing, but it's worth a shot.

Tranny, linkage or ???

clutch, and check clutch cable linkage. Make sure there ain't no or very little slack in the clutch cable. It dies because the clutch is still engaged with the flywheel. Car won't move in any gear because the clutch prolly needs to be changed.

92 SL1 won't idle-wants to die without pushing gas-just put in new plugs

Remove, clean and inspect the idle control valve on the throttle body. These tend to clog up over time, or the stepper motor fails. Check this before anything else.

Some of that model had an unusual clutch mechanism, which has probably broken due to wear. Read here

In the event yours is instead fitted with a hydraulic clutch, either

When i put it in gear it starts grinding like it wont go all the way into geer

I assume you have a manual transmission. If so sounds like your clutch maybe shot. To test your clutch put the park brake on while the truck is stopped.. shift into 5th gear and slowly let release the cluth.. the engine should die. If the engine does not die you clutch is slipping and needs to be replaced. How many miles on the vehicle ?

I have a rav4 that won?t go into gear once the engine is started. If the engine is off it will go into gear. So every time I have to stop I must turn off my car put it in first and then start it again....

Change the gear oil. If the gear oil is leaking get it fixed as soon as possible. If all the oil has leaked then it may have severely damaged the gear box.

On my 1976 Triumph TR6 when shifting I get a little grinding as it goes into gear 2nd,3rd mainly. I just rebuilt the gearbox and installed a new clutch about 700 miles ago. When its cold 2nd gear is worst,...

Sounds like a sychro problem when you rebuilt. I have always found with my gearbox, even when warm it is easy to beat the sychros so i make slower changes. Unless you fix the sychro rings the problem will only get worse
