Put in a rebuild starter but after two mths it won't start again. Tried to start a couple of time but all I saw was smoke coming from the hood

I have a 94 Chevy K5 Blazer(5.7L Full size) manual transmission. Had the starter re-build but after two months won't start. Had alot of smoke from the hood, checked the distribution block and found one wire had melted from trying to crank cple of times.I "pop" the clucth and the truck runs fine. When you turn the key truck just stays silent. Will start occasionaly ( once a month) I need help. I'm tired of pushing the truck down hill in order to pop the clutch.

Where can I find the starter relay circuit?

  • josephndeti May 26, 2009

The guys that rebuild the starter said they replaced the starter solenoid......Cannot confirm this. I will try replacing the solenoid...quite inexpensive part, then will update on the status

Turned key once, it tried to start but didn't, turned key again but nothing happens except smoking under hood. what is going on with my car?

If you are having smoke coming from under the hood you may have an electrical issue. Check battery and cables for no corrossion as well as tight connections. You may also have a high amperage draw from the starter motor causing excess heat in the wiring producing smoke and may have to have the starter replaced.

2005 Impala 2005 LS won't start, no sound, no rev up, just lights up

It could be many things but I would start by taking off the starter and taking it to auto zone to have it tested. Also u may have burnt the wire that runs from the starter to the battery replace it. See if that solves your problem

I just replaced the starter on my daughters 1996 Honda Accord it started overheating and shutting off she put antifreeze in the radiator but it continued to smoke and shut off again now it won't s

If the smoke is white ,it's water (head or gasket)
Timing belt will shut it off completely.
Can't see any way the starter could have anything to do with it.
However if it has a head gasket problem, hydrostatic lock can
make a good starter look bad(,water will not compress like air)
so if there is water in a cylinder the engine won't turn over.
If a head gasket is bad there will be white smoke out the
tailpipe and bubbles coming out of the radiator (cap off while
cold)

Car not start after overheating

I was driving at about 65 mph on the highway and the first thing i noticed was the trac off light blinking on and off. Also, there was some sporadic sound coming from somewhere and thought nothing of it. Then, I couldnt accelerate anymore and pulled to the side right away as the engine was thumping. Opened the hood and saw smoke coming out. I had also put antifreeze in the car a few days ago and it was bone dry. So apparently, I have a leak. I tried to start the car again after an hour and half with antifreeze in the car and nothing. Anyone have any suggestions??? I should mention that i do hear the engine trying to ignite but it sounds like its misfiring and it won't start.

Battery, starter, and alternator good, but car won't start, or hesitates to start. What is wrong?

Check your fuses first under the hood and under the dash. Better hope they blew before you did major damage. If you find the ones that blew check what they ran and start checking out your electrical system in that area.Hope whatever started burning was just hot wires and not a ruined electrical system. If there is extra stereos wires or security systems installed (not factory) check that area and if possible disconnect them that may take care of the problem

I went out to start my 2002 Oldsmobile Alero and it wouldn't start heard a gurgling noise then saw a little smoke coming from under the hood. I opened the hood to check my oil thinking maybe it was low...

usally smoke indicates a burned wire form too much resistance. you may need to replace both the positive and negitive battery cables with a new starter.
replace those and go from there try to turn the engine by hand. hopefully it is not locked up .if it would not turn the stater may have drawn too many amps and burned your wires.

2000 Jetta is Leaking antifreeze and smoking

I think you mean you saw water vapor (some call it steam) not smoke.

You probably have a hose leaking (badly). If it's not a hose, your water pump shaft seal is probably kaput.
