Try checking the key reader it's usually a plastic ring around the key barrel. If it's dies will not read code in key to enable the car to start. Check your key is sending a code as well.
wow if your battery is that old i would get a different one but you can have the battery and alternator tested for free at a auto parts store they can tell you if its junk or not but thats why your having them problems when your alternater spins it charges the battery if the battery is no good it wont hold a charge and you car will die now it the alternater is bad it will not keep the battery charged and your car will die.
do a battery leak test, separate the neg cable and jump it with a test light, it should light and then dim, if not something is staying on, look for a light or radio that is staying on, i usually pull the fuses one at a time till the light goes off, but dont get fooled by the ecm fuse it always draws a little, then chaeck cables on the battery , and check alternator voltage charge, should be approx 14 volts, driving it every day is bunk, or there would be a lot of dead cars in the citywhere people use them only on the weekends, as for the spring i would have to see it
if you have a multi meter disconnect positve battery terminal and put red wire to battery and black to battery cable put multi meter on resistance should be 0.005 or less if more then check for things that may be plugged in to cig lighter etc turn door lights off etc dont turn key on any more than 0.005 will drain battery
Your alternators should have a warranty on them...but if your car is breaking alternators, you may have the wrong size belt...maybe to small and putting to much strain on your alternator.
YOU PROBALLY HAVE A NEGATIVE POWER DRAW TO CHECK THIS USE A TESTER LIGHT AND CLIP THE WIRE TO THE POSITIVE SIDE OF BATTERY AND TOUCH THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL IF IT LIGHTS UP U HAVE A NEGATIVE POWER DRAW
thank you very much for your help, yes it arks, any other suggestions?
