Hello I'm a M.B. tech. 1st you need to know why the freon is low. Hopefully it just needs to be serviced. There is a component located in the lf of the engine compartment called a receiver drier. It soaks up the moisture in the freon so the gases can work the way they are supposed to. On this unit there should be 2 switches(I believe they were combined into one switch in 98. 1 switch is a temp switch that operates your electric fans, the other is a compressor cutoff switch. Assuming the compressor is not coming on-take a fused wire and bridge the 2 contacts- If the compressor does not come on at all there is another problem(it is not low on freon. On the condenser there is a high side port(it is the bigger of the 2)By the brake master Cyl.(lf of the engine compartment thereshould be a smaller low side valve in line with the fuel cooler hose. Usually you can hook up a machine to the low port and **** freon in through that port. Assuming you do not have a refrigerant machine. It is very self explanatory on the bottle of r 134a refrigerant which can be purchased at your local auto supply store. I would start with 1 lbs. and add dye with the freon in case there is a big leak. If the system is overcharged it will not cool properly. I believe the system capacity is approx. 2 lbs. Add a few ounces after the first pound until a/c system is cooling properly and the electric fans are also coming on when the system gets to high. If you get a can with a good Gage set on it you should see the high side between 150 and 2000 psi(fan coming on at max. press.) also the low side should read about 35. It is about the temp of the evaporator which is i=located in the dash and the blower blows through this component out through the vents. Hopefully I have been helpful.

Hello, good day, adding freon gas is not allowed, if you have the refilling machine or station and technical knowledge, you can do it,first suction the remaining freon, then evacuate or vacuum the system, add oil in your system if necessary (amount of oil is depends what part it replaces,it is written in our tech. data)amount of freon is written in your hood with green level, better to have pressurized freon during refiling, only charge freon on high side with full amount of freon, start your engine, switch your aircon, observe your aux.fan, first stage activated by your freon gas(12 to 15 bar)second stage activated by your engine temp. 100 to 105,,ty

My 1986 300e air conditioner works great, then cuts off. I start he car and it works great and ice cold. Then goes warm. Is it freon?

First your ac comp has a clutch. second r 12 and r134 are NOT compatible if you just "add a pound of r134" you will kill your entire ac system. The O rings, dryer and pressure switches are not interchangeable nether are the lubricants and you WILL burn up your ac comp. Just a word or caution. It is probably the ac speed sensor to detect slip.

E200 COMP 2003 BLOWS HOT AIR WITH AC ON?

Sounds like the freon is low this is usually caused by a leak in the system or a bad compressor. Go to an automobile supply store and by a recharging system they come with instructions on where to put the gauge for the LOW its usually a blue cap, the gauge and the freon. If it is still blowing hot air even after you charge it chances are it is the compressor. If cold air is coming out then you might have a leak in a hose. Check it at night with a ultraviolet light

Ac blows cold air for about 15 minutes then starts blowing warm air then starts blowing cold air again freon is full

Freon is not full. If it goes back and fourth it is pumping then reaching a low pressure on the low side below 35 psi. Pressure while car is off should be pegged. Check at idle should be around 50 psi and 35 psi at 2000 rpms.

Good luck. If problem persists evac system replace dryer and recharge.

I have a 1995 c280 and the air conditioner(we'll fan) just keeps popping on while I'm driving. My air is not working, meaning getting cold because I need to get it fixed so I never have it on. But it has...

If the fans are working that means the a/c system is operational. Try letting a little freon out while the a/c is on and see if the pump stays runnig. If so Shut the a/c off, drain the freon and replace with r134a and enjoy
