Changed the timing belt on a 99 dodge stratus 2.4 Liter and it won't start. All marks aligned properly according to Haynes manual diagram but it still won't start. It tries to start but is obviously still out of time.
If it ran good before, you must not have the belt on properly. its easy to get it wrong.
INFO:99 Dodge Stratus-
I've had crank sensor malfunction twice in as few as 4 months. This time I determined that the frayed belt, abused sensor, perhaps it was frayed first time around and missed it I don't know? Maybe this helps the next guy.

Well it turned out that I had the timing right all along. The problem was that the engine was flooded. Originally we did have the timing off and this must be when it got flooded. Just to let Emissionwiz know I tried to clarify the question for you earlier but there was a problem with the page and I couldn't. The belt was actually changed because the the water pump was being replaced and it is driven by the timing belt. To gsken I would like to say thanks for the attempt, unfortunately the engine doesn't have a distributor. It uses a crank sensor and a cam sensor instead and the computer orders the coil to fire.
Thanks for trying to help though, I appreciate it.
are u sure u didn't bend the valves? did the belt break?
