SOURCE: 1995 mercury mystique starter replacement process?

At first, it looks like an impossible task, however if you start by removing the positive battery cable, then unplug mass air flow sensor, carefully remove air filter box and its components from the throttle body. from there you should be able to see the starter better and have more room to work and get it out. You can take the battery right out if you want a little more working space for your elbows. take the wires off the solenoid, sometimes the old studs of solenoid will break due to corrosion. remove the two 13mm bolts that hold the startersome models have one at the bottom also that you will need to access from the bottom side.

Don't know how the ABS light would be related to the blower motor, you said you checked everything - did you check the blower motor circuit for power and ground with a meter or a test light ?

1998 mercury mystique LS battery light on , battery only 1 yr. old. ? Is it my alternator ?

If all the connections are clean and tight at the battery it is likely. The alternator should put out about 14.2 volts when the engine is at a fast idle (about 1500 RPMs). Auto parts stores will test your alternator for free.

1998 Mystique brake lights don't work while the window brake light does work.

Try a continuity test, not sure where to find the electrical scheme but if you obtain it, use a tester or borrow one to test the continuity of the wires of both taillights, could be simple as a cut wire.
