SOURCE: auto question,I have an 96 Dodge Ram w/ 5.2L V8

I would check the injector. Pull the plug and check for corrosion. Use on ohm meter to check the injector. The resistance should be 11 to 15 ohms. Check it against another injector. they should be close. You can also check the injector plug. best to use is a noid light, but you can use the meter. set it to dc volts to check. the numbers should jump everytime it fires. since you got a 300 and 301 misfire it tells me that you have an intermitant misfire in cylinder 1. The other sensors are still good don't replace them. The coil is still good, because when it starts to go, it will have misfires on all cylinders or will not work at all. The crank sensor is the one that detects the misfire, again don't replace it because it's not bad, it's just doing it's job. If the injector and harness check out good then I would start check the cylinder for compression and mechanical problems

SOURCE: 1989 chevy truck, 5.7...will not start....no fire

Hi, I believe there is a computer problem. If possible check codes for no start condition. if you know the no.#1 cylinder at TDC (Top Dead Center) on engine then you will know no#1 distributor is. Good luck.

Why am I not getting spark on my 96 dodge ram 1500 5.2

lots more
the ASD sense pin called A142 16DG (DARK GREEN)
FAIL FOR (ALSO) COIL SPARK PRIMARY SIDE SHORTED. OR ANY INJECTOR SHORTED
THIS ACT KEEPS PCM FORM BLOWING UP THE COIL DRIVER AND THE INJECTOR DRIVERS.
A BLESSING no?
TRY NEW COIL IGN
THEN NO CURE so far CRANK WITH ALL INJECTORS UNPLUGGED? OMG SPARK NOW.
NEW ASD RELAY
A142 ASD SENSE CONNECTS TO ALL FOUR 02 SENSORS (ALL 4)
FOR THE HEATER POWER,IF THE SUPER COMMON Heater SHORTS HAPPEN OR OVERLOADS THE A142 LINE BELOW 10VDC THE ASD DROP OUT.
SO UNPLUG ALL 4 O2 SENSORs
I AM READING YOUR REAL SERVICE MANUAL TO YOU UNDER A142 ALL HITS' (CONTROL +F) SEARCHES.
There are like 50 + pages to scan and i give up
"title this post " the usual subjects"
on my cars I have real OEM SM in pdf
and every word and every code/word/number (a142?) can be searched, zero guessing that way.
if I had to guess, ONE O2 sensor pin A142 IS SHORTED
lot of cars this the last hack that swapped in O2
did not put the wire clamps back and this wires
hit exh pipe and melted, and shorted
and 02 heaters on all cars love to shout.
that is there THING. unplug them.
keep in mind the PCM calls the shots here it has 100% control of the ASD at all times key on.and cranking too.
one could just V meter the sense pin a142 and if not 12vdc key on (for sure not 10vdc or below) and unplug things like a mad man until a142 goes to 12vcd
and BINGO bad device is in your hand.

How do replace ignition control module in 1998 K-1500 5.0 liter vortec

This system does not use the ignition module used on the DI systems in the past. The VCM controller now controls the ignition control (IC) and bypass functions.
The crankshaft sensor, located in the front engine cover, is perpendicular to a target wheel attached to the crankshaft. The target wheel is equipped with slots situated 60 degrees apart. As the crankshaft rotates, the target wheel rotates past the crankshaft position sensor. The rising and falling edges created by the slots cause a signal to be sent back to the VCM. This signal occurs three times per crankshaft revolution and is referred to as the 3x signal for V6 applications. The signal occurs four times per crankshaft revolution and is referred to as the 4x signal for V8 applications.
The VCM then utilizes this 3x (V6) or 4x (V8) signal in order to provide the correct spark to the engine by way of the single coil driver module. The single coil driver module is basically an electronic switch that when commanded by the VCM, causes the primary coil voltage to breakdown, energizing the secondary coil and providing a spark via the coil wire to the distributor cap. The distributor consists of the following components:
The system consists of the following components:
?€¢
Vehicle control module (VCM)

?€¢
Distributor

?€¢
Ignition coil driver module

?€¢
Ignition coil

?€¢
Crankshaft position (CKP) sensor

Now which part do you want to replace ?

?€¢
Cap and rotor

?€¢
Camshaft position sensor

?€¢
Gear drive and shaft

The camshaft drives the distributor shaft which rotates providing a spark to the correct cylinder by way of the cap and rotor. The camshaft position (CMP) sensor functions much like the crankshaft sensor previously described but provides only a 1x signal to the VCM. That is, for every 2 rotations of the crankshaft, there is 1 rotation of the camshaft. Note that the camshaft position sensor will not affect driveability. The sole purpose of the camshaft position sensor is to provide the VCM with the necessary information for the misfire diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

2002 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with 5.9 with distributor has no spark

The crank sensor on this vehicle is a magneto type sensor which reads a toothed gear on the crankshaft. The gear has a blank spot on it that the sensor reads, which tells the ECM when to fire. If the sensor is faulty, which is fairly common for Mopar engines, you won't get any spark. You should definitely try replacing this before the ECM. Just be very careful when pulling the sensor out: if it breaks off, it's time to remove the oil pan to push what's left out of the block. Hope this helps

4x4 v8 1998 dodge truck won't start

well if ur not getting spark and u changed all of the ignition components lets think about the computer in order for the ignition to work you have crankshaft position sensor that fires the fuel injectors and the spark change that and if still nothing then change the camshaft postion sensor that sensor tells the computer that the 1 piston has came all the way up and it tells the crankshaft sensor to do its thing

99 chevy g3500 wont start

do you have injector pulse? the "hall effect" you mentioned is the camshaft position sensor it times the injectors to the ignition fire. the coil is actually triggered by the crankshaft sensor . is the rotor turning while starter is engaged, if not the drive gear pin could be sheared and not getting the spark out to the wires.GOOD LUCK.

My engine turns but no spark I changed ignition coil and still no spark, what could it be?

Depending on which engine your car is equipped with; the following components could be at fault.

Crankshaft Position Sensor
Camshaft Position Sensor
ECM (Engine Control Module)
Distributor Cap or Rotor
Fouled Spark Plugs
Bad Plug Wires

If they haven't been replaced in the last 30K miles, I suggest you check and /or replace the the plugs and wires first.

If your engine is equipped with a distributor, check and/or replace the distributor cap and rotor if it hasn't been replaced in the last 30k miles.

If your engine is equipped with crank or cam sensors have them tested.
