Look under hood..you will see wires coming from distributor cap on top into your motor..if its an 8 cylinder there will be 4 in the back and 4 in the front.6 cylinder-3 in front 3 in back.get a 5/16 spark plug wrench and socket.you will need extension to reach back ones.if you bought new wires from parts store it will be even easier to find where plugs are located because you can compare the ones you bought and easier find the wires under the hood.the wire gets fatter as it goes into the motor.grab the fat part firmly and pull it off.boom theres your spark plugs.use your spark plug socket(5/16) with extension/ratchet and turn the plug until it comes out.do not break the plug or it will not come out.when you put a new one in screw it hand tight then 1 crank tight with the ratchet.when you change your wires do them one at a time as to avoid switching the wires up.on top of the distributor cap(where the wires lead to) there will be numbers as to what wire is for what cylinder...change plugs/wires 1 at a time dont take off more than 1 wire at a time!hope this helped!

2002 Dodge Dakota Sport with 3.9 litre engine, cranks but no start

No it has to be something simple. An engine only needs three things to run.

Fuel and you know you have that.
Compression.
A spark at the right time.

Check for spark, check for codes. The compression can't have changed.

How do we get to the spark plugs on my 2006 Dodge Dakota and where do the plugs go

Trace the multiple wires (one per cylinder) from the distributor to each spark plug. You'll need a spark-plug wrench to remove the current spark plugs.
Check your Owners Manual for the recommended time to replace the spark plugs, and the recommended part-number for replacement parts. Or, go to Canadian Tire, with the year & model number of your truck, and the sales assistant will recommend the correct plugs.'

Location of spark plugs in 2005 dodge dakota

To change the sparks on a 2005 4.7L Dodge Dakota you will need the following:
  • Spark plug socket
  • Ratchet
  • Torque wrench
  • Extension
  • Flat-tip screwdriver
  • Make sure the truck is cold!!!

Note you will have to remove the air intake located at the top of the engine, and will have to move some of the coolant lines out of the way.

At the top of the engine there are 4 sparks on each side. The coils are held in place with a 10mm bolt. Undo the 10mm bolt and unclip the coil. Next pull out the coil.

Insert the socket, with extension into the spark plug hole.

Remove spark plug.

Check the gap on new spark plug, it should match stock.

tighten to approximately 25ft.lbs. (check spark-plug packaging for exact torque requirements).

repeat this process with all other sparks.

be sure that no dirt gets into the spark plug holes.
