Dealership, however, issued a clean inspection. No required emissions tests but should do a sight check.
I have a 2005 , 1500 Sierra and had to replace mine a while back. The dealership wanted over $800 CAN for a regular GM exhaust with a one year warranty, got them to look for a Magna-flow stainless steel exhaust with a lifetime warranty for about $650 can (this was from the manifold back) PS IT ALSO HAS A GREAT SOUND!!!
SOURCE: exhaust filter
Particulate filters are self cleaning. If the warning light comes on, you will need to take a long drive every so often to get the filter hot (It is a built-in part of the exhaust system.) Some models will also dump extra fuel int the system to help ignite the soot buildup and assist to "clean' the filter.
You need do nothing else; just get it really hot for a while each time the warning comes up. If you ignore it and do only short trips, it will clog up and need replacement.
SOURCE: fuel pump? maybe
Just turn key as far as run, and you should hear it. If no luck, spray WD-40 in throttle body intake, and try starting. If it fires up, it's a fuel problem, if not, check for spark.

Sounds like an intake air temperature sensor replacement would be a good place to start, then clear codes & see what happens.
SOURCE: check engine light with low emission code for catalytic converter
Check the fuel pump pressure. should be between 60 to 66 psi. There isn't an easy answer for this one. You may need to perform component testing and a diagnostic check.

It is my understanding that the newer diesels (2007 forward) have a complicated emissions system and that it is illegal to remove it. Still waiting for the dealer to offer a solution.
