How to change transmission fluid in a ve Calais v8

Raise the Commodore with the jack and lower it onto a pair of jack stands while it is parked on a flat surface. Engage the emergency brake to prevent it from rolling while on the stands. Slide under the engine and look for the transmission gearbox. This is a round metal tank with a pipe on either end. Place a collection pan beneath the gearbox.
Remove the fill plug bolt on with the 1/2-inch socket wrench. This bolt is located on the pipe coming from the rear of the gearbox. Remove the drain plug bolt on the front pipe using the same socket wrench. Wait 10 to 15 minutes for the fluid to drain completely from the gearbox.
Fill the fluid pump with 3 quarts of transmission fluid. Place the plastic tube in the fill plug and pump until liquid starts dripping from the plug. Reattach the fill plug. Raise the Commodore above the jack stands. Remove the stands and lower the car to the ground.

Gears slipping vr commodore automatic

Have you had it diagnosed? Is the engine light on? When does it slip? All the time? Cold? Hot?
Is it full of fluid?
I recommend a diagnosis from a non interested party before any repair work is performed. No diagnosis, no can fix.

How do i replace the gearbox of a holden VR?

Taking out the tail shaft from the rear diff but before pulling out of the gearbox Drain the oil from the box, take out the shaft,Take off the battery earth lead, and now the starter motor.and the bottom metal plate at the bottom of the bellhousing (should be 4 small screws. and undo the 4 bolts on the flywheel metal plate which hold the torque converter on to engine. undo the bellhousing bolts and the top hose on the radiator ,and the gearbox X member and let down g/box slowley and slide it off WITH converter on the box ,
When refitting the other box its all in the reverse of removal (ALL OF IT) as well as the converter on the gearbox before it goes in as it fits on the shaft and turn it around and keep going untill it slips into the 2nd lot of splines and in line with the bell housing face.(Do not damage the g/box seal).
Let me know how you get on , Aussie Ron
