Car won't start!!! & ABS Light on

1995 olds cutlass supreme 3.1 At first, when key is turned to start position, a rapid clicking would occur. Then sometimes nothing at all, then sometimes it was fine. REMEDY: Replace starter. Car started better, but probblem still existed. Then, today when key turned to start position, nothing at all. As if the battery was dead, but all my interior lights, radio, dash indicator lights work fine. REMEDY: Replace battery, check under hood fuses. Still nothing. The only noise from under the hood is the ABS breaker. Could you please help me!!! My security light is coming on as well. I wiped down the keys with the chip and it still comes on. Looks like I may have the same problem. Any idea if replacing the key cylinder is an expensive fix? Also (may be unrelated) the ABS Light always stays on. When I start the car it lights up and turns off, but once I hit 2-3 mph and the ABS kicks in (click sound from under the hood, sounds like it is from the passenger side) the light stays on. Any suggestions?

is this something that I could fix at home? Unfortunately I'm trying to fix as much stuff as I can myself, I'm manning the unemployed boat right now. If I could fix it, is there someplace that may show some pictures of what I am looking for? thanks

Sounds like carbon build up on the contacts inside the electrical ignition switch which is not the key cylinder. Its located on the lower steering coluum if coluum shift or if you have a floor shift it will be inside the console

These parts are only replaced as new and are very expensive these days. Try a wrecking yard first

Could be defective caliper not releasing properly. Have seen few instances were flex hose is defective causing to hold pressure on caliper.

Parking and dash light flickering

First. I would look for a loose connector plug going to one of the fuseboxes, there could be corrosion in the connector even, Under the hood or under the steering wheel. 2nd. I would try to locate the ECM, could also be a bad connector there as well.

I have a 95 cutlass and sometimes it don't start. I turn the ignition and the lights etc come on but that's it. I don't even get any "click" from the starter likes its trying to start. What I have noticed...

I had the same problem with my 1995 Cutlass Supreme. Finally it would not start at all and I noticed the security light on the dash would not go off after I turned the key. It wound up being the ignition switch. I replaced it and no problems. The only trouble is that your old ignition keys do not work with the new switch.

Security light staying on 1995 olds cutlass

Go to good locksmith and make a copy of ignition key.Your keys must be badly worn and or resistor(antitheft)could be weak.Good locksmith can make you a new replacement at reasonable price. Also make sure you wipe ignition key if it gets wet.If it wont start wait 3 mins minimum before trying to restart.
Last resort would be changing ignition on column.

The steeing column in my 95 Olds Cutlass

does the key have a computer chip built into it. i think it does . if this is the case that,s your problem. the key has to match the computer in the car it,s programed from the factory like this. you either have to use the original ignition lock and key or get the lock in your new column keyed to your original key by a lock smith. than your car will start. good luck.

1006 olds cutlass supreme won't crank

try taking a power wire from the battery positive and getting it on the starter terminal and seeing if the starter turns over if it does it could be a fusible link that runs between the starter terminal and the relay
