My trunk light doesnt work, my trunk wont open with the key fob, or the button on the dash and my brake lamp in the trunk is out. This all happened at the same time. I was wondering is this an electrical problem dealing specifically with the trunk or is it a fuse for trunk related items. Any help would be appreciated!!!!
Hi, I believe this may be a fuse problem. The owners manual will show you the fuse box or boxes locations and what each fuse powers. If it is a blown fuse it may be that something in the trunk pinched the wire and shorted it. The wires as they run from the body to the trunk lid is a good place to check for a pinched wire or short. The unlock solenoid may be the culprit if it shorted out, just a possibility. If a fuse is blown, replace it then check to see if the brake light works. If so then try opening the trunk electronically, if the fuse blows again then you know that circuit is the problem. Good Luck, Jim

I purchased a Chiltons through www.eautorepair.net and looked up the Relay for the trunk release button on the dash. I found the location under the fuse panel under the drivers side and found the relay was not pluged in. I conected the relay and to my dismay the button worked.

Enter into the trunk space after folding the rear seatbacks down. Pull the yellow emergency trunk release handle that should be dangling right beside the area where the trunk latches to the car. This should get the trunk open so that you can expect the locking mechanics for damage: bent steel, something foreign stuck inside, bad cable, etc.
