Battery going dead

check you have good earthing points, also check the earthing strap from engine to shell. main earthing point follow the negative lead it will go to the shell.

I would take a look in the front and see if the car battery is running properly.

How old is your battery? if it is 8 years old, I'm betting on the battery being dead. They can die rather suddenly, has happened to me twice. Battery will have enough power to run lights and such, but not crank the engine/power up the FI system. Otherwise, could be the relay.

Ck your alternator output, should be between 13.8 and 14.2 volts, A bad alt will cause the battery to discharge when driving, Once voltage drops to a certain level (9.8 I think ) the ecm starts to shut down causing all kinds of strange problems, like running bad ,trans not shifting right, even the radio ! It happened to me in my 95 chev p/u

GO TO KNECHTS AUTO PARTS , HAVE THEM CHECK THE CODES ON THE COMPUTOR THEN GO FROM THERE !!

Your battery is dead. Try jump starting and run the car for about 20 minutes (going for a drive would be best). Turn the lights on - if they dim over time or the car sputters after awhile, your alternator is the actual problem (the device that charges your battery). If the car runs well for the 20 mins but won't start again (clicking), then you'll need to replace the battery.

have the fuel pressure checked,the fuel pump may be going out.

I have the same problem on my 95 grand cherokee laredo. Sometimes it starts out fine and after about 10 miles it starts spitting and sputtering. Then after a while it seems to clean out and run fine again for a little while. Then other times it starts out spitting and sputtering at the begining. I changed the fuel filter and that was not it. It is a 4.0L 6cyc. Any Ideas?

when the last time u did a tune up?

if you have an electric fuel pump that would explain the hum. unhook your incoming fuel line and blow the line clear, sounds like you've got some junk in your tank.it'll build up on the screen in the tank then fall off (at least partially) when your making turns or hitting bumps or holes. next time it's only got a gallon or so of fuel i'd drop the tank and check the pickup tube inside. sux but that's the only way to get to it. while you've got the tank off and out from under the jeep, might as well clean it out real good and replace anything inside (usually the screen) that doesn't look right, dirty etc. wouldn't hurt to run a bottle of fuel system cleaner in the next full tank of fuel either. preferably as soon as you put your tank back. good luck
