Wont start fuel pump not working i checked fuses and relay and shutt off switch is pushed down i turn key on and check wires to fuel shutt switch and there is no power to the wires that the plug any ideals?
Power comes from a fuseable link to the pump relay, then to the inertia switch on the dark green and yellow wire. Power from the inertia switch to the pump is on the pink blue or pink black wire.
Testimonial: "very fast answer and very good information."
i have power to the green and out to the pink but it shuts off fast 2to 3 seconds and there a third wire from the inertia switch a real small tan wire.
whats the best way to check the fuel pump to see if it works i hooked i wire form the battery and touched the pink wire and it not pumping gas to the fiter.
The system is working correctly. The relay is "on" for 3 seconds then the computer has to see RPM or oil pressure to continue powering the pump relay. If you run a hot wire to the pink-black coming out of the inertia switch and the pump does not produce fuel pressure, the pump may have failed. You would also need to check the power and ground connections at the tank to be sure.
ok thanks i will check the wires at the tank that smaller tan wire does that go to the fuel pump to ?
I don't know. The only wires for the pump are pink-black for power and black for ground.

try cleaning the connector that goes to the fuel pump, sometimes they corrode on inside. If that does not fix, test the wires feeding fuel pump with a multi meter until the condition shows itself again, if voltage drops to zero or very low then wiring problem, if voltage is unchanged with problem and fuel pump is not working and connectors are all clean, try replacement of fuel pump.

If it is a single click, the problem lies in the starter solenoid or relay. If it is several clicks in succession, the battery may be low or there may be a loose cable.

also try this :-- Please make sure the battery is fully charged before doing this test! Also make sure all the connections on the starter, battery and cable ends are tight and clean! this is important!! This won't be fun to test but it will tell you if the starter is good or not. Crawl under the car. (Make sure you use the proper jacks and jack stands!) find the end of the starter (not the end that is attached to the bell housing) and find the solenoid switch. it should have 3 bolts on it. Two large ones and a small one. The top large wire should be the positive battery cable, the bottom large wire should go into the starter and the small wire should be from the ignition switch. Take a wire and hold it to the top large wire on the solenoid. (be careful of the other end of that wire when you have it connected to the top large wire of the solenoid! don't ground this wire. it will turn out badly. take the other end of the wire and touch it to the small bolt on the solenoid end. If the starter is working, the solenoid should engage and the starter will turn. If this happens it is most likely the ignition switch. If the starter doesn't turn, the starter could be bad.

Starter Relay Test
Place transmission in Park.
Apply parking brake.
Check for battery voltage between starter relay battery terminal and ground.
Connect jumper wire on starter relay between battery and ignition terminals.
If engine does not crank, connect a second jumper wire to starter relay between ground terminal and good ground and repeat test.
If engine cranks in step 3, transmission linkage is misadjusted or neutral safety switch is defective.
If engine does not crank in step 3, starter relay is defective.
Follow this step by step and you will pinpoint the problem.

SOURCE: no power to fuel pump
check the tan- lt green wire on the fuel relay that is located on the right fender, mine wasn't pushed in all the way, this wire shut down injectors and fuel pump, if you are looking for the shut off switch to reset the relay, it is on the passagers side floor board under the dash, gas two wires, orange and pink, I don't remember the color of the stripes, I removed this switch and wired them together without a problem

ok thank you stephen i unpluged the wire harness plug going to the tank and i have power when the key is on to 2 of the pins in the plug the one that stays on must be the fuel gauge and the one that turns off after 3 seconds must be the fuel pump so if i have power to the tank it must be the fuel pump im going to drop the tank and remove the pump and check it if power out of the tank and see if it works thanks for all the help i really appreciate it.
