P indicator stay in park 94 cadillac but shifts into all gears

Fully Depress the brake pedal before trying to shift into gear. Modern cars have a lockout for safety reasons.

It can be the issue with Transmission or problem with gear shift assembly.The system has to be inspected and tested.----------

Is it just the indicator that stopped working? If you can still shift through the gears then I wouldn't spend the money fixing the indicator.

The parking brakes unlock automaticly when shifted into gear. If it is not working the actuator for the release is at fault. It is located ablove the parking brake pedal. The part is not that expensive as well at any Cadillac dealer

No. There is no overdrive button. When you look at the transmission gear indicator, you will see P R N D (inside a circle) D, etc.

i have a 1994 cadillac seville sls and it wont shift out of 2nd gear i have replaced the shift silenoid "B" and the vss and it still wont shift and the pcm is still good. What else could it be?

replace park neutral switch located beside the shift cable

loosen up the linkage at the transmission a little,click the linkage i click on the transmission(shift it manually to reverse),put the gear selector in the car in reverse,then tighten the linkage.see if that helps.

You don't have torque converter shudder. You don't even mention that in your original post! You def had a solenoid issue. My 94 STS did the same thing. I only had reverse, 1st and 2nd gear. Wouldn't shift outa 2nd period. It was a $200 solenoid repair. Car had a 160K on it when that happened. I have almost 170k on it now. Shifts and works fine. you don't need the tranny replaces ad josavv63 indicates.

light bulb burn out is what i can think of its common as long as no other problems have rissen up in this matter
