injectors
faulty turbo or internal crack
low cylinder compression
valve leakage
egr valve blocked or blanked off

also check ..
fuel pump pressure fuel filter
if hard starting cold ..glow plugs

sounds like the Catalitic converter is bad.. are any lights on such as check engine? take the Egr off and blow it out with compressed air, lightly tho , and reinstall it.
