I came across this due to I was searching for a transmission issue and saw this. But I had the EXACT same issue just this past September. The blower worked, on all vent settings, but when the temperature setting was adjusted, to any heat level, with exception of it being at the coldest temp setting, I had nothing but cold air blowing out with the continous clicking noise. There was no heat from any of the vent settings. I took it to a Ford dealer to diagnose and repair, and it was in fact the Blend Door; just as already suggested by bobneu. It was a little pricey though, just less than $1000.00 for the dealer to repair, due to the fact it is located under the dash that had to be dismantled to get to it. Most of the cost to repair was labor, not the part, that was less than $50.00. If you do know someone who won't mind spending the time to dismantle the dash and putting it back, then I definately would go that route. It will cost alot less than taking it to a dealer.

It also feeds the overhead console.Suspect that is were your problem is.
SOURCE: no heat blows cold
most likely either the vacuum line to the round ball is disconnected allowing the vacuum pressure from moving the inner levers to the heating unit of ....check your radiator fluid levels to ensure they are to specifications level ...or you may need a radiator flush to flush the heater-core as they become plugged from gunk also could be the line going into the heater has become lose you will need to get involved a bit under the dash to investigate this ....also the switch could be bad or yes by all means use a test light and see if your fuse has blown it may be as well vacuum lines under the hood has dry-rotted preventing proper vacuum to the unit
but it sounds as if you need to have the heater core flushed these are the areas in which i would start with first ...good luck and i hope this helps you

your blend door actuator gear is slipping. remove actuator and check blend door for free movement. If jammed, you may have to open the system to unjam. If door is free to moe, replace actuator. See procedure below to access blend door. Not sure you need a lift, as long as you can get the 2 nuts off under the truck.
